Who do we want out daughters to be?
May 1, 2014
When I have a daughter, I want her to be strong and confident in the young woman that God has made her to be. I don’t want her to struggle with who she is, trying to decide whether or not she is “good enough” based on the standards of this world.
This world will always tell us that we are not “good enough,” usually because someone is trying to sell us something. But, in the long run, its does some very deep damage. I have seen women going around trying to find acceptance and their self worth through other people and their ideas on what a women should be like, look like, etc. For so many, this leaves these women tired with unfulfilled voids, constantly trying to become someone they’re not.
I don’t want my daughter feeling ugly or inadequate because she is not skinny enough, or curvy enough. I don’t want to feel like she is any less wonderful because her hair isn’t straight and long, or because its too curly, or not enough curly.
I want my daughter to be confident in who she is, and that she is loved and treasured, not only by mea and her father, but by God. He is going to make her as she needs to be, and she will be perfect.
To all the daughters out there: Don’t try to be something you’re not. God has already given you everything you need to be the wonderfully awesome woman He wants you to be. And He’s happy with what He has made; you are perfect to Him. You are beautiful just the way you are.
To all the mothers: Don’t try to be something you’re not. God has already given you everything you need to be the wonderfully awesome woman He wants you to be. And He’s happy with what He has made; you are perfect to Him. And there is a little girl who is looking up to you, and you mean the world to her. You are beautiful just the way you are. And when you know and believe it, your daughters will too.
